Currently all requests for access to generalised sensitive species records will need to happen externally from the NBN Atlas, i.e., direct contact with the Data partner (also known as data provider). Please see the below for an advised workflow for requesting access.

Step 1 –

You will need to identify the Data partners which have shared records at a higher resolution than displayed on the NBN Atlas.

Click the Customise filters button:

Scroll down to the Attribution filters options and select Data provider, do not click Update yet:

Then scroll down to the Location filter options, select Sensitive and click Update:

From the Narrow your results panel on the occurrence search page, click on Location (1), to expand this group of filters (if they are not already expanded). Under the Sensitive filters, click on the Generalised facet (2) (note that if this facet is not present, there may still be generalised sensitive species records in your search which have been generalised to a set public resolution):

Your search will now be filtered to only include sensitive species records which have a higher resolution available on the NBN Atlas.

5. Now click on Attribution (3) in the Narrow your results panel. Under the Data provider (4) facets, click choose more… (5)

This will open a window with a table listing the data partners who have shared the records for your occurrence search.

Step 2 –

Find the Data partner contact information on the NBN Atlas. You can find a Data partner’s contact email on their Data partner page. To navigate to a Data partner page, click on the Data and Partners tab (located at the top of all NBN Atlas pages) and then click Search for a Data Partner.

Step 3 –

Complete the Request access to supplied resolution form. This form will help collate the information the Data partner will need from you to decide if they want to give you access and to manage your access to the supplied resolution on the NBN Atlas.

Step 4 –

Send the completed form/s to the Data partner/s you want to access the supplied resolution for.

Step 5 –

If the Data partner accepts your request to the supplied resolution, they will then manage access to your NBN Atlas account. Once they have confirmed that this is complete, you will need to download the records to access the supplied resolution for the records’ location (this information is not currently available to view on the NBN Atlas, regardless of whether access has been granted to your NBN Atlas account or not).

You will need to download the records in the Simple Spreadsheet format (other formats are currently unavailable for accessing the supplied resolution):

For records which you have been allowed access for, the supplied resolution of the records’ location is stored in bespoke fields in your occurrence download:

For records which are not affected by Access Controls or you have not been allowed access to, the access controlled fields will be blank.
